The Power of Social Media
I’ve been creating content since 2017 when I started my podcast, Keeping it Real by Gabriela M.C. when I had less than 300 followers on Instagram. I didn’t care for how many people were or weren’t listening at the time I just wanted to get my thoughts out to the world; I knew the right people would come across it eventually. My community continued to grow over the years and in 2020 when I started to combine my sociology education, with my witty sense of humor, and my experiences as a First Gen Mexican-American to create the series “Sociology of Bailes.” The series got over a million views and I started to grow a significant audience on TikTok. We have now grown to a community of over 160K people and I continue to share all sides of who I am as a person by being unapologetically myself. I share the behind the scenes of what it is like to run Postres Cafe while juggling a 9-5, being a mom of two, wife, and content creator in hopes of inspiring others to go after their dreams by being delusional. I have met other amazing entrepreneurs, content creators, and social workers through the different social media platforms I use and have even gotten the chance to collaborate in real life with them. TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube have opened doors for me and continue to allow me to reach people across the world. I am forever grateful for everyone who comes across my content one way or another.

Being away from her family, visits to the emergency room, unplanned pregnancies and a whole lot more! 16 and A College Student is about overcoming incredible obstacles while learning to be an adult in a different world, and the true magic that can happen when you refuse to give up on your dreams.
